Why the same image looks wrong on every platform
Each network enforces its own aspect ratio, and anything that does not match gets cropped automatically — usually from the centre. A composition that works as a 16:9 landscape on X loses its edges entirely as a 1:1 Instagram square, and a 4:1 LinkedIn banner keeps only a narrow horizontal strip. Faces near the top of a frame are the most common casualty. Previewing every crop before you post is far faster than discovering the problem afterwards.

- LinkedIn Post — 1200×1200 (1:1). Square consistently outperforms landscape in the LinkedIn feed because it occupies more vertical space.
- LinkedIn Cover — 1584×396 (4:1). Extremely wide; keep text and faces well inside the centre.
- Instagram Post — 1080×1080 (1:1) and Portrait 1080×1350 (4:5). Portrait takes up the most feed real estate on mobile.
- Instagram Story — 1080×1920 (9:16). Leave roughly 250px clear at top and bottom for interface elements.

The vertical focus control
Automatic centre-cropping is wrong more often than it is right — particularly for portraits, where the subject’s head sits in the upper third. The focus slider lets you choose which part of the image survives a vertical crop, so a headshot stays a headshot in a 9:16 story instead of becoming a picture of someone’s shoulders.
Practical tips
- Start large. Upload the highest resolution you have. Downscaling is lossless in appearance; upscaling is not.
- Keep text central. Anything within about 15% of an edge will be cropped on at least one platform.
- Shoot or design square when in doubt. A 1:1 source crops gracefully to more formats than a wide landscape.
- Check the story format specifically. 9:16 is the most aggressive crop of the eight and the one most likely to cut something important.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool uses the HTML5 canvas API entirely within your browser. Your image is never transmitted or stored.
What format are the downloads?
High-quality JPEG at 92% quality. Transparent areas of a PNG will render white, since JPEG does not support transparency.
Will this reduce my image quality?
Only marginally. Output is generated at each platform’s native pixel dimensions from your original file, so quality is limited by your source image rather than by the tool.
How often do these dimensions change?
Platforms adjust specifications periodically. These reflect current published guidance at the time of writing; verify with the platform if you are producing something high-stakes.
